Mary Elizabeth Matthew, affectionately known as Marysdotes, Meerrry, and My Mary, passed away on September 17, 2024, at the age of 40. Born on August 15, 1984, in Spokane Valley, WA, she spent her life in the same vibrant community that she cherished.

Mary enjoyed a fulfilling career in billing and coding, where her attention to detail and dedication were evident. However, her proudest accomplishments were her two beloved daughters, Keeley and Kyah Swaney, whom she raised with love and devotion. Mary’s greatest joy came from being a mother, and she cherished every moment spent with her girls.

Mary is survived by her mother, Kathleen Matthew; her daughters, Keeley and Kyah; their grandparents, Cheryl and Gary Biesterfeld; ex-partner, Carson Swaney; and best friends, Beth Jorgenson (Rob) and Jen Underwood (Brandon). She is also survived by numerous aunts and uncles, including Jan and Dan McFarland, Daniel and Sharron Matthew, and Justine and Tyler Baxter. Mary leaves behind her boyfriend, Chris Collins, as well as a host of friends—too many to name—from her youth, Bunco nights, gaming apps, beloved co-workers, and extended family. Her precious pets, cats Yoshi and Daisy and her dog Bodhi, will miss her terribly. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Peterson, and her grandfather, Robert Matthew (Grandpa Bob), whom she loved dearly and with whom she spent much quality time during her childhood.

Mary will be remembered for her quirky sense of humor, corny jokes, and deep empathy for others. Her caring nature and ability to make those around her smile will leave a lasting impact on all who knew her. Mary’s spirit and laughter will be deeply missed.
