Obituary

Mary Ann Famiglietti, 59 years of age, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on Friday, August 23, 2024 in Fayetteville, NC after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Mary was born December 14, 1964 in Arlington, VA, to the late Roger and Charmaine (nee Fern) Groettum.

Mary was a graduate of James W. Robinson High School Class of 1983 and Benjamin Franklin University School of Accountancy in 1986 with an Associates Degree in Accounting.

She was the beloved wife of Joseph Famiglietti, Jr. for nearly 40 years and a devoted mother to her two children, Joey Famiglietti and Amanda (Craig) Luskey. Mary found immense joy in being a grandmother to her cherished grandsons, Craig Jr. (CJ) and Augustus Luskey. She is also survived by her siblings, Debbie (Phil) McNeese, Donnie (Joy) Groettum, and Linda Jones, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

Mary grew up in Northern Virginia where she developed a strong sense of community and a deep love for her family. She dedicated 30 years of her professional life in the accounting department at the Country Club of Fairfax where she was admired for her diligence, commitment, and integrity. Her nurturing and selfless personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

After retirement, Mary embraced her love for the outdoors, often hiking local trails with friends and finding peace in the beau

ty of nature. She especially enjoyed observing deer, owls, and birds during her walks. Her creative spirit shone through in her indoor hobbies, such as cross-stitching and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. She had a knack for discovering arts and crafts online and recreating them with her unique flair.

A lover of Christmas, Mary transformed the family home into a festive wonderland each holiday season with her cherished collection of antique village houses and decorations.

Her love of music was evident in her fondness for the Zac Brown Band, and her favorite place in the world was North Myrtle Beach, where she spent countless days enjoying the water, reading her favorite books while sitting in a beach chair with her toes in the sand, mini-golfing, and strolling through Barefoot Landing.

Family meant everything to Mary, and she made a significant sacrifice by moving to Columbia, SC and subsequently Fayetteville, NC to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law during their military service.

Mary will be remembered for her shy demeanor, nurturing love, and the warmth she brought to everyone she encountered. Her unwavering spirit, creativity, and the profound impact she had on the lives of those around her will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
