In 1948 Mary Ann became a legal secretary for Ryan and Ryan. She quit that job to have a family. When her family was grown, she applied for a position from a blind ad in the newspaper and discovered later that it was the same law office she worked for right out of high school. When she retired years later, she stayed available to Ryan and Ryan as their probate expert.
