Obituary

In the midst of God’s Providence Marvin Leo Dunning emerged into the world

on March 8,1962, in Dixons Mills, Alabama.

Shaped by his Maternal grandmother he developed a strong spiritual foundation

at Church of God Pentecostal where he regularly attended services.

Marvin’s formative years were spent in Marengo Elementary School. Later, at Faraday, Marconi and West Garfield Upper Grade Center and

Austin High School in Chicago, Illinois.

Endowed with the affectionate nickname “Buddy” he relished life’s simple

pleasures and cherished moments with his beloved son.

Marvin was a very hard worker with a range of industrial jobs, grounds maintenance, and kitchen chef skills.

At a young age under the strong influence of his God fearing christian parents,

professing his faith and accepting Christ, Marvin was baptized at Greater

Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Edicott Ivy Sr. He later

reunited with Greater Mount Calvary under the leadership of Bishop Michael Ivy

Sr. where he was a faithful member until his health declined.

Preceding him in death are his parents his loving and devoted mother and naturally

loving dad : Dorothy and Albert Sutherland. Father: Percy Carter Hackworth.

The Lord blessed Marvin with one beloved son DiShone L. Dunning. His legacy of

life has also been shared with his 3 devoted sisters: Marvella (Edicott Jr) Ivy,

Veronica (Curtis) Smith, Pearline (Kenneth) Crosby. Devoted nephews &nieces: Marquella Ivy, Edicott Ivy III , Curissa Smith, Caleb Smith, Anthony

Sutherland, Aarius Sutherland, Amar Crosby, Viola Lawson, Charzele Lawson. 7

sisters: La’Nea Hudson, Paula Robinson, Michele Oribhabor, Stacey Hackworth,

Levetta Hackworth, Shemeca Rhinehart, Marina Hackworth. 2 brothers: Woodie

Hackworth, Reginald Hackworth. 12 aunts: Lois Young, Laverne Dunning, Alice Bealer

Lula Mayhew- Dunning, Eliza Boyd, Rose Baggette, Margaret Evans, Annie

Strickland, Shirley Raines, Be’Etta Knight, Delores Grubb, Frances Hawkins. 3

Uncles Charlie Hackworth, Bennie Hackworth, Woodie (Louise) Hackworth. Many

nieces, nephews , great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was called from labor to a reward of eternal rest on Saturday October 19.2024 at West Suburban Hospital in Chicago, Illinois
