Obituary
Marvin Jean Bates Sr., age 57 passed away on September 9, 2024, in Cleveland, Ohio. Born on August 24, 1967, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the union of Herbert Bates Sr. and Alzer Lee Bates (nee Anderson) confessing his life to Christ at an early age he attended New Life Missionary Baptist Church, Marvin attended Cleveland Public Schools later becoming a Barber for his community for many years.
He was preceded in death by his Loving Wife: Florene Bates, Father: Herbert Bates Sr., Brothers: Herbert Bates Jr., Ernest J. Bates Sr., Lee Otis Bates.
Marvin is survived by an extensive family who loved him dearly, he leaves behind 5 children: Marvin Jr., Jessica, Darren, Malcolm Sr., Devon Sr. 6 grandchildren: Cortez, Zahmyla, Cameron, Malcolm Jr., Sa'riyah, Devon Jr., A Loving Mother: Alzer Lee Bates, 2 sisters: Venora Bates, Christine Bates-Mansour (Eric), 1 brother Brandon D. Bates Sr. a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
"Pops was always a "G" and was respected, I'm grateful that God allowed us to make amends, and you don't owe me nothing"!
