Obituary

Mark Allen Johnson was, born March 20, 1964, in Oakland, California, passed away peacefully on August 27th, 2024 in the place he loved most: the mountains at home. He was 60 years old.

Mark leaves behind a loving and devoted family, including his wife of 32 years, Ines Johnson; his son Steven Johnson; his two daughters, Layli Johnson and Cassandra Nah; and his cherished grandchildren, Venicia, Aiden, Vivianna, Aurora, Luna, and Phoenix. Mark’s legacy lives on through the family he adored and the memories they created together.

Mark was a simple man who valued loyalty, honesty, and always doing the right thing. He never chased material wealth; instead, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether it was a day spent with fast cars, guns, great music, or firing up the grill for a perfect BBQ. But above all, it was the peace of being at home or in the mountains that brought him the greatest joy. It’s only fitting that he passed in the very place that held his heart, leaving a void that will never quite be filled for his family.

One of the greatest joys in Mark’s life was finding his wife, Ines, on a mission trip in the Yucatán. Their love story began with shared smiles and blossomed into a lifelong partnership. The first photographs he ever took were of them on their first date—pictures that captured the beginning of a beautiful journey that would span more than three decades. Tragically, Mark passed away on their wedding anniversary, yet their love story remains, told through the letters they exchanged and the memories they shared.

While we are deeply saddened by his loss, we take comfort in believing that Mark is at peace, enjoying eternal life with his family in heaven. He will forever be missed, and his spirit will be honored with celebrations of his life today and always.

In his memory, let us cherish the values he held dear and find comfort knowing he’s now where he belongs, surrounded by love and peace.
