Marylin Singletary Stacks was born October 20, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York to loving parents, John and Irma Singletary. She was raise in Holy Temple Church, Springfield Gardens NY, where she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ.
She graduated from Springfield Gardens High School in Queens, NY, class of 1974. After graduations she attended the Borough of Manhattan Community College to study nursing.
Marilyn was a passionate care giver. While living in Fort Bragg, NC, from 1982 to 1990, rasing four children of her own, she operated an in-home daycare, caring for the children of working soldiers.
Shortly thereafter, she returned to New York, where she continued raising her children with the help of family and friends. In 1999, she began working as a certified nurse and home health aide, caring for the elderly for 15 years. After the passing of her son Dewann Jr. and Mildred "Blessings" Stacks. Marilyn became very known in her community, advocating for her grandchildren.
Marilyn found strength in her faith, independence and preserved under the most difficult circumstances life has presented. She loved to travel and spend time with her grandchildren and had an infectious laughter with quite a sense of humor.
On April 9, 2024, Marilyn suddenly passed away of heart failure at home in New York, NY.
Marilyn was predeceased by son, Dewann Alexander Sheldon Stack, daughter, Mildred Milly Louise Stacks, brother, Elder John Thurman Singletary, father, Pastor John Edward Singletary and mother, Irma Louise Singletary.
She leaves to mourn in her passion son, Dennis Ray Stacks Jr, and his wife, Kizzy Latash Stacks; daughter, Lakiya Denise Stacks; sister, Etta Michille Singletary and brother in law, Duane Johnson; brothers, pastor Joseph Singletary and Jose Kemp; former husband and father of children, Elder Dennis R. Stacks Sr.; eleven grandchildren, Dewann Stacks Jr., Mildred Blessings Stacks, Assata Browne, Avery Stacks, Eli Stacks, Tajha Sims, Tayvin Sims, Taliah Stacks, Travis Stacks, Nasiah Stacks, and Charisma Stack; one great-grandson, Jace Jessiah Sims; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
