"Kika" Martínez, una amorosa madre, abuela y esposa, falleció pacíficamente el 30 de abril de 2025, rodeada de su familia, a la edad de 73 años. Nació en Río Grande, Zacatecas, México, el 4 de octubre de 1951, hija de Silvestra Jiménez y Juan González.

Era la mayor de ocho hermanos. Independiente desde temprana edad, se mudó a Guadalajara y luego emigró a El Paso, Texas, para mantener a su familia en México. Allí conoció y se casó con John Martínez el 4 de abril de 1977, celebrando recientemente su 48.º aniversario. Vivió en El Paso, Texas, y en Alemania antes de regresar a El Paso, donde crió a su querida familia.

Su orgullo y alegría siempre fueron sus hijos, quienes destacaban en sus carreras y en la vida, y sus Tres Reyes (sus tres nietos). María fue una madre, esposa, hermana, tía y abuela dedicada a su familia.

Sus pasiones eran cocinar para su familia, apoyar a la selección nacional de fútbol de México y cuidar de sus plantas y perros, Zimba y Leia.

Conocida y referida por muchos como Kika, María se dedicó a criar a su familia, ayudar a los demás y pensar en su familia extendida antes que en sí misma. Tenía un corazón bondadoso y generoso, como lo demostraba al invitar a muchos familiares y amigos a su casa y brindarles amor y seguridad en sus momentos de necesidad. Sus puertas siempre estaban abiertas para cualquiera con el estómago vacío. Al entrar en su casa, probablemente encontrarías deliciosa comida mexicana esperando ser devorada, La Rosa de Guadalupe sonando en el televisor de fondo y su sonrisa contagiosa. Le encantaba reír. Era una bromista, siempre hacía reír a carcajadas a todos con sus chistes.

La extrañaremos profundamente, ya que fue una mujer increíble que tocó muchas vidas de una forma u otra. Recordaremos su sonrisa, sus risas y sus consejos... recuerdos que guardaremos en nuestros corazones por siempre. Que descanse en el cielo con sus queridos familiares fallecidos. Sin duda, la recibirán con una gran sonrisa y un abrazo.

A María le sobreviven su esposo, John Martínez; sus hijas, Lorena Navarro, Jessica Martínez, Karina Martínez, Marissa Martínez y su hijo adoptivo, Leonardo González; sus nietos, Brandon Navarro, Dylan Navarro y Rocco Navarro; su nuera, Erika Palacios; su hermano, Gregorio González; sus hermanas, Juana González, Maricela García y Patricia González; y su familia lejana y amigos.

It saddens us to announce that Maria Francisca "Kika" Martinez, a loving mother, grandmother, and wife, passed away peacefully on April 30th, 2025, surrounded by family at the age of 73. She was born in Rio Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico on October 4th, 1951 to Silvestra Jimenez and Juan Gonzalez. She was the oldest of 8 siblings. Independent from an early age, she moved away to Guadalajara and then immigrated to El Paso, Texas to provide for her family back in Mexico. There, she met and married John Martinez on April 4th, 1977, recently celebrating their 48th anniversary. She lived in El Paso, TX and Germany before settling back in El Paso again, where she raised her loving family.

Her pride and joys were always her children, excelling in careers and in life, and her Tres Reyes (her three grandsons). Maria was a devoted mother, wife, sibling, aunt, and grandmother to her family. Her passions were cooking for her family, supporting the Mexico National soccer team, and taking care of her plants and dogs, Zimba and Leia.

Known and referred to by many by her nickname Kika, Maria was dedicated to raising her family, helping others and thinking of her extended family before herself. She had a kind and big heart as evidence by her inviting many family and friends into her home and providing love and security in their times of need. Her doors were always open for anyone with an empty stomach. When you entered her house, you'd likely find delicious Mexican food waiting to be devoured, La Rosa de Guadalupe playing on the TV in the background, and her infectious smile. She loved to laugh. She was a jokester, always making everyone crack up with her "chistes".

She will be sorely missed as she was an incredible woman, who has touched many lives in one way or another. We'll remember her smile, her laughs, and her "consejos" ...the memories we will hold dear in our hearts forever. May she rest in heaven with her dearly departed family members before her. Surely, they're welcoming her with a big smile and hug.

Maria is survived by her husband, John Martinez; her daughters, Lorena Navarro, Jessica Martinez, Karina Martinez, Marissa Martinez, and adoptive son Leonardo Gonzalez; her grandchildren, Brandon Navarro, Dylan Navarro, Rocco Navarro; her daughter-in-law Erika Palacios; her brother Gregorio Gonzalez, sisters Juana Gonzalez, Maricela Garcia, Patricia Gonzalez and her extended family and friends.
