Obituary

Marguerite Catherine Holdenried (nee Fassler), affectionately known as Tootie, passed away on February 2, 2025, in her beloved St. Louis, Missouri. Born on December 16, 1941, in St. Louis, she spent her life nurturing her family and creating lasting memories with friends.

Tootie was a devoted wife to the late Richard R. Holdenried and a homemaker and mother of three: Bradley R. Holdenried, Lori A. Bourgeois, and Kerri L. Bourgeois. She took pride in her role as mother-in-law to Judy Holdenried, Matthew Bourgeois, and Brian Bourgeois, as well as her role as grandmother to Tommy Gillman (Caitlyn), Joshua Holdenried (Brandy), Amanda Holdenried, Sophia Bourgeois, Eva Bourgeois, Mark Bourgeois, Grace Bourgeois, and Cooper Bourgeois. She also had the title of great-grandmother to Ciara, Aurora, Zephyr, Mya, and Emery. Her family was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.

In addition to her role as a mother and grandmother, Tootie ventured into positions serving as a secretary at Lincoln National Life and later as a registrar at St. Louis Community College. She was also known for her organizational skills, having successfully coordinated class reunions and served as treasurer for Lori and Kerri’s ice skating team (The Blade Brigade).

Tootie loved to dance, travel, and research genealogy. She found joy in planning trips to her favorite places, including Switzerland, Alaska, and Canada. A fan of classic music, she enjoyed the sounds of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Michael Crawford, John Denver, and Nat King Cole, and had a soft spot for Perry Mason, When Calls the Heart, and cowboy shows on television.

Sassy, fun, silly, and unfiltered, Tootie had a way of brightening the lives of those around her. She was always there to lend a helping hand to friends and family alike. A lover of German chocolate cake and an enthusiast for casinos, her zest for life was infectious.

Marguerite is survived by her brother, Chuck Fassler, along with her loving children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A Christian at heart, she embraced life with an open heart, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
