Marcus Banquel Smith, born on August 5, 1986, in Chicago, IL, passed away on April 15, 2024. He was a beloved member of the community, having spent his entire life in Chicago. Marcus had a passion for sports, particularly football and basketball, and often played with the children in the neighborhood.
Known for his selective palate, Marcus's favorite meal was gravy burgers over white rice. When it came to music, he had a deep appreciation for artists such as J. Cole, Drake, 21 Savage, and Nicki Minaj. Marcus also had a strong spiritual side, faithfully attending church every Sunday and participating in Bible study on Fridays.
Above all, Marcus cherished his two children, Marcus Jr. and Marissa Smith. He loved them dearly and was devoted to being a loving father. Marcus, also known as M-Dog, enjoyed traveling, with Las Vegas being his favorite destination. In his downtime, he would watch the TV show "The First 48" for hours.
Professionally, Marcus excelled in the construction industry. He was a hardworking and dedicated provider for his family. Marcus was often heard saying, "You right you right," which embodied his laid-back outlook on life.
In addition to his children, Marcus is survived by his mother Jessie Everett's, his father Michael Smith Sr., and his brother Michael Smith Jr. He will be remembered for his strong faith, his commitment to family, and his unwavering work ethic.
Marcus's infectious laughter and warm smile impacted the lives of everyone he encountered. He was a beautiful soul who brought joy to those around him. Marcus was involved in the Kingdom Hall, where he dedicated his time to serving others.
In remembrance of Marcus Banquel Smith, his family, friends, and community mourn the loss of a remarkable individual whose love for his family, dedication to his work, and genuine kindness touched the hearts of many. He will be dearly missed.
