Marcial Ybarra

June 8, 1962 – October 16, 2025

Marcial Ybarra, born in Dallas, Texas, and a resident of Burnet, TX passed away peacefully on October 16, 2025, at the age of 63.

To most people, Marcial first came across as quiet and reserved, but anyone who took the time to talk with him quickly learned he was full of knowledge, humor, and a sharp wit that could catch you off guard. His sarcasm was unmatched, but it was always kind, never cruel. He was strong, wise, intelligent, and loved nothing more than making the people around him laugh.

Marcial had a creative soul. He was the family photographer and videographer, always behind the camera capturing moments others might have missed. He loved to draw, dance, cook, and to spend time outdoors fishing, camping, or heading out to “shoot deer” armed only with his camera, capturing the world the way he saw it.

He worked most of his life as a handyman and maintenance man for hotels and apartments, a role that suited him perfectly; dependable, skilled, and always able to fix what others couldn’t.

Marcial shared nearly 40 years of his life with Cindy Ybarra, his longtime companion and wife, building a family and countless memories together.

He was a devoted father to his daughter, Marci Walden, and a caring stepfather to Shanan Tolleson. Grandfather "PawPaw" to Mickale, Bailey, and Benjamin, (lovingly nicknamed his "BMWs") he took immense pride and joy in their lives. He is also survived by his brother, Bidal Ybarra.

His lifelong best friend, Ray Van Riper, stood by him through years of laughter, adventures, and unforgettable moments. He also treasured the friendship of neighbors Georgia and Danny Lacey, who became like family over the past two years in Burnet.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary A. Ybarra and Juan P. Ybarra; his son, Marcial Marcel Ybarra; his brothers Bacilio “Buzz” Ybarra and Cisto Ybarra; and his sisters Dolores “Lola” Ybarra and Dorothy Miller.

Marcial’s love for his family ran deep. He was protective, creative, and full of life. He was a man who could make you laugh, teach you something new, or fix what seemed impossible. His humor, strength, and wisdom will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who were lucky enough to know and love him.

He taught us that sometimes the strongest people aren’t the loudest, they’re the ones who quietly keep everyone else going. And if you listen closely, you can still hear his laughter in every story he left behind.
