Malcolm Swann Obituary "Doug", as he was affectionately known, was born April 21, 1958, in Selma, Alabama to the union of the Late Reverend Robert Swann, Sr. and Mrs. Johnnie Mae Phillips. The family relocated to the Moody Community of Acmar where he was reared. He attended St. Clair County Schools and began a successful career with Rockwool Manufacturing at age 17, retiring with over 40 years service. Mr. Swann had been married to Rosetta Swann and Valeria Swann. His favorite hobbies included watching sports, pontoon boating and time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by siblings, Willie Ann (Terry) Peterson and Terry (Velma) Swann, Sr. Memories of life linger with his children, Derosha Swann (Tamese), Matthew Swann (Kishna), Tevin Paul, Charyse (Larry) Smith and Tyree Swann; siblings, Deborah Carter, Robert Swann, Jr., Rodney Swann, Roberta Holman and Elmira (David) Threadford; grandchildren, Feodore, JaBron, Dajon, Trevon, Leilani, Julian, Zyan, Caenan, Roman and Heaven, special friends, Smokey Brownlee, Terry Peterson, Dexter Brownlee, Ronnie Newsome, Michael Hallman and Brian; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Last Rites Observance is 2:00P.M. Saturday, September 14, 2024, at First Missionary Baptist Church-Acmar. Rev. Michael Hallman, Eulogist. Interment follows at Acmar Community Cemetery. Calling Hours at Leeds-Unity Funeral Parlor, Friday Noon until 7:00P.M. Family Visitation, Friday 5:00 until 6:00P.M. Doug was a very gentle and kind person; his smile will always be remembered.
