Madelyn Denise Self, affectionately known as Mim, was born on June 25, 2000, in Dallas, Texas. She passed away on August 17, 2024, in Hope, Arkansas, where she had most recently resided. Madelyn was a devoted homemaker and a passionate Discord Group Organizer, known for her creativity and leadership skills.
Madelyn was a proud member of the Gurdon Band, contributing to their achievement as two-time State Champions. She also showcased her musical talents for one year as part of the Showband at Henderson State. A 2018 graduate of Gurdon High School, she was active in various extracurricular activities, including playing soccer, serving as the basketball manager, and being a member of both the Beta Club and National Honor Society.
She was engaged to Jason Layne Daugherty and was the loving mother of her daughter, Rose Marie Daugherty. Madelyn is survived by her mother Jennifer Self, father Dustin Self, sisters Caitlyn Self, Delanie (Karson) Wheeler, Averie Self, and brother Amos Self. She cherished her nephew, Jett Wheeler, and was warmly embraced by her extended family, including her mother-in-love Allissa Daugherty, father-in-love Jason Edward Daugherty, brother-in-love Braden Daugherty, and grandparents Gayla O’Neall, Denise Dudley, Michael O’Neall, and Elizabeth O’Neall. Madelyn also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Madelyn was known for being a fantastic mother, a loving daughter, and a caring fiancée. She was family-oriented, funny, kind, thoughtful, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Her impact on the lives of others was profound, as she was an attentive listener and an amazing friend. Madelyn’s love for animals, her culinary skills, and her musical talents were just a few of the many ways she enriched the lives of those around her.
Her engagement in the community through organizations such as the Beta Club and the National Honor Society, along with her leadership in the Upward Bound Program and as a Discord Group Organizer, reflected her commitment to helping others and fostering connections.
Madelyn Denise Self will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, unwavering love for her family, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
