Madeline Yager Bradshaw Cross, 98, passed away peacefully at home April 10, 2023, with her family close by. Madeline was born July 30, 1924 in Mechanicville, NY. Her parents were Irene Yager and Edward Dugan. She lived in Mechanicville until the 1940s, when she and her mother moved to Schenectady to work at GE during the war years. She married Raymond H. Bradshaw in 1945 in Schenectady. Raymond died in 1979, and Madeline later married Edward J. Cross, who died in 1999. Madeline was predeceased by son, Phillip Mark Bradshaw, who died in 2020. She is survived by daughter, Elaine J. Guidice (Stephen), son Raymond A. Bradshaw (Janet), and wife of deceased son, Frances Bradshaw. Grandchildren: Rafe Guidice (Sandey), Phillip Michael Bradshaw (Lesley), Ian Guidice (Ele), Joel Bradshaw and Catherine Beecher (Brendan). Great-grandchildren: Ryan Guidice (Haley), Stella Bradshaw, Mckenna Guidice, Van Bradshaw and Bennett Guidice. A great-grandchild, Baby Beecher, is expected in September. Surviving are cousins, including Pauline, niece Linda and family and nephew Chuck (Barb) and family. She is also survived by her church family and friends at Schaffer Heights. Madeline was a homemaker until the 1970s, when she went to work for Social Services. She formed many long-lasting friendships there, and retired after twenty years employment. Faith, family, friends and humor sustained her over the years. She has given her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren an example of a life well-lived, and we will miss her beyond words. Services will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State Street, Schenectady. Visitation 11 am-12 pm. Service starts at noon, followed by burial at Viewland/Cobblestone Church Cemetery, 118 Putnam Road, Rotterdam.
