Mable Ray Smith, affectionately known as Mama Ray, passed away on May 27, 2024, at the age of 80. She was born on June 30, 1943, in Fair Bluff, NC, and most recently resided in Winston-Salem, NC.
Mable was a woman with a heart full of love and a passion for serving others. Her favorite pastimes included singing and doing for others, as she found immense joy in helping those around her. One of her favorite TV shows was Tyler Perry, which brought her laughter and entertainment.
Mable was known for her endearing phrase, "I love you, and you can't do nothing about it!" This motto reflected her unwavering love and affection for her family and friends.
One of Mable's proudest accomplishments was her son's calling to preach. She took great pride in his preaching ministry and the positive impact he made in the lives of others.
Although Mable was not married or in a relationship, she was blessed with two children: Emmit Jerome Ward and the late Edna Lynn Ward. Her grandchildren, Anthony Breeden, Derrick Breeden, Tytricia Smith (Jerry), Jerome Ward, Ednalynn Ward, Jeremy Ward, and Valýsha Ward, were a source of joy and love in her life.
Mable is survived by her sisters and one brother, who will cherish her memory.
Mable Ray Smith will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate to have crossed paths with her.
