Lorraine Beaton (O'Kane), born on September 8, 1931, in Saint Paul, Alberta, Canada, passed away on January 23, 1988, in Mission, British Columbia. She lived a vibrant life filled with love, laughter, and profound kindness, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Lorraine married Patrick O'Kane in 1948, and together they welcomed four children: Claire, Duane, Laverne, and Cheryl. A devoted mother, Lorraine gave birth to her three eldest children before turning 21. She later married Angus Beaton, further expanding her family.
An extraordinary friend and mother, Lorraine loved nothing more than gathering with friends and family, often traveling far and wide to do so. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel better about themselves and was never critical, always curious, and welcoming. Her home was a hub of activity, with the basement serving as a lively community center filled with music and laughter, much to her delight. She could often be found at the top of the stairs, chuckling with a smile, asking, "What are they up to now?" Her support and enthusiasm for her children's pursuits fostered an environment of love and encouragement.
Lorraine cherished her time spent making marshmallow brownies for Christmas, a tradition that brought joy to many. Her favorite place in the world was Hawaii, where she found peace and happiness.
Lorraine is survived by her children and her beloved grandchild, Demer McIntosh, born in 1978. She is remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy of friendship and love will continue to inspire all who carry her memory.
