Lorna “Carmen” Hawthorne, born on May 24, 1945, in Clarendon, Jamaica, passed away on August 28, 2024, in Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn, NY. A devoted mother, grandmother, and soprano singer, Lorna was a beacon of love and faith to all who knew her.

Each summer, Lorna dedicated her time to teaching children in Jamaica about Jesus, running a vacation Bible school that touched countless lives. She had a passion for spreading the word of God, traveling around the world to share her faith and uplift others. Lorna cherished her family, finding boundless joy in caring for her children—Donald, Erica, Troy, Michael, David, Elizabeth, Ruth, and Priscilla—as well as her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

An aficionado of pasta and desserts, Lorna enjoyed gathering with family over meals, often accompanied by the uplifting sounds of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. She found entertainment in shows like Judge Judy, but it was her superpower of taking care of others that truly defined her.

Lorna's favorite place was Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where she found peace and happiness. Her warm spirit and loving nature will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she impacted.
