Lois Blackmon, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep this morning, January 21, 2026, in Tacoma, Washington, following a hard-fought battle after suffering a stroke in early December. Her final days were spent surrounded by loved ones, a reflection of the warmth and connection she cultivated throughout her life.
Born in San Diego, Lois dedicated much of her professional life to the hospitality industry. She worked many different jobs including both a waitress and a casino dealer—roles that suited her vibrant personality and love for engaging with people. Her career was marked by dedication and an unmistakable zest for life that left lasting impressions on colleagues and patrons alike.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Lois found deep fulfillment in giving back to her community. She especially cherished her time volunteering at the hospital, where her compassion and cheerful spirit brought comfort to many.
Lois embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. She had a passion for travel and delighted in exploring new places. Whether reading a good book, baking something sweet in the kitchen, or enjoying video games and visits to the casino, she approached each activity with curiosity and energy. Time spent with friends was especially dear to her—she valued laughter, conversation, and shared experiences above all.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters and son: Jackie Evans, Kenneth Evans, and Lisa Shaw (Evans); her twin sister, Virginia Haugen and twenty grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Peter Evans.
Lois’s legacy is one of resilience, generosity, and spirited living. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire joy in their hearts.
We'll plant real trees for you in Lois's memory and display your contribution forever.
