Leroy Charles Gowe, affectionately known as "Killer," passed away on October 23, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born on March 10, 1945, in Tilghman Island, MD, where he spent his entire life and made significant contributions to his community.
As a lifelong waterman, Leroy dedicated himself to the sea and became a respected figure in his profession. He served as the President of the Watermen’s Association, where his leadership and commitment greatly impacted the lives of many in the industry. Leroy was known for his hard-working and dedicated nature, often inspiring those around him to strive for greatness.
Leroy shared a loving partnership with his wife, Florence Gowe, with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage. Together, they raised a family that includes their children, Ricky Gowe, Charles Gowe, Winnie Gowe, Danny Gowe, and Willard Gowe, all of whom carry forward the values instilled in them by their father.
Leroy is survived by his loving family, including his parents, Henry Lednum and Winetta Lednum, who cherished him throughout his life. His legacy of hard work, dedication, and care for family will continue to inspire those who knew him. Leroy Gowe will be fondly remembered for his contributions to the community and the love he shared with his family.
