Leonard was a musician who played the bass guitar. He played along side many different well known Jazz artists. He also played with many other well known artists like Johnny Rivers. Leonard served in the Vietnam war. He received the National Defense service medal, Vietnam service medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, Combat Infantryman's badge, Army Commendation medal, and a Purple Heart for being wounded in combat.

Leonard Lee Jones was born in Los Angeles California on December 24th, 1947, and peacefully went home to be with the Lord on December 28th, 2025.
Leonard was the youngest son of Melvin Marcus and Robbie Lee Jones. Later in his adulthood, he grew up to know and love his brothers Melvin Jones and Bill Thompson. Leonards love for music allowed him to have a career playing alongside of many well known Jazz artists.
He was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam war. Leonard received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Army Commendation Medal, and a Purple Heart for being wounded in combat. He then returned home from the war to travel throughout the United States as a long-haul truck driver. Leonards passion for playing music even led him to play with more well known artists like Johnny Rivers.
Leonard was fun, loving, and did not hesitated to speak his mind. He had a kind spirit and an infectious enthusiasm for life. He helped those who were in need, and always had wisdom to spare. Leonard loved Los Angeles knowing that he could always feel the ocean breeze.
Leonard is survived by step-son Sabian White, Grand Daughters Chel'le and Victoria. Great Grandson Nehemiah. Nephews Michael Jones, Lance Jones, and Darin Jones.
Leonard had many special friends like Rennie Quesada, Andrea Sansaricq, Phyllis Tiger, Sally Graves, Sister Wadree Smith, Irving Dumpson and many more.
The Family thanks you all for your kind words and your heart felt prayers during this time. We would like to give a special thank you to all the CLC staff who graciously served Leonard for many years.
Leonards remains will be laid to rest at Los Angeles National Cemetery. 950 S. Sepulveda Blvd. Los Angeles, Ca 90049 on Thursday January 29th, 2026 at 11am.
