Lawrence Calive Guerro was born on August 26, 1983, in Albuquerque, NM to Marie (Henderson) and Larry Guerro. Lawrence passed away on June 29, 2026, at his home in Magdalena, NM.
Lawrence spent his childhood on the Alamo Navajo Reservation and Jemez Pueblo. He graduated from Alamo High School In 2002. After high school he attended both New Mexico State University and the Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute (now known as CNM). On October 4, 2005, in what came to be a defining moment in his life, Lawrence joined the U.S. Army. During his time in the Army, Lawrence served as a Motor Transport Operator (MOS 88M) with the 10th Mountain Division based in Fort Drum, NY.
In late 2006, SPC 4 Lawrence Guerro deployed to Iraq with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division. He conducted combat operations as a member of 2nd Platoon, Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment in Yusufiyah, Iraq which is in the infamous “Triangle of Death” region. On May 25, 2007, Lawrence was wounded in action by an enemy attack on his platoon. On September 24, 2009, because of his wounds, he was medically retired from the U.S. Army. Lawrence was awarded the Purple Heart Medal for his wounds and the Iraq Campaign medal for his service in combat.
Lawrence is survived by his loving wife, Serena Guerro; his daughter Hannah Guerro; his sons Carter and Dean Guerro; his mother and father, Marie and Larry Guerro; his two brothers, Michael Henderson and Calvin Guerro; and a host of loving friends and other family members.
The Funeral Services will be at the: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will be at the Magdalena Cemetery in Magdalena, NM. Funeral Reception will be the Fine Arts Building at the Magdalena School at: 121 Duggins Dr, Magdalena, NM 87825.
