Laurian Powell- Warner was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 28th, 1972, to the parents of Larry E. Powell
Sr. and Rhonda L. Williams. Laurian, nicknamed “Nette”, was the first and only girl of three kids (Larry
Jr.and William). Laurian was a very smart kid. She started her early education at Firman House then went
to grammar school at Beasley Academic Center where one of her achievements was being the Spanish
Club President for 7th and 8th grade. Laurian then attended University High where she enjoyed playing
soccer and volleyball. While in HS Laurian had her pride and joy her son, Stephen Lawrence Powell. Her
son didn’t stop her though Laurian continued her education and graduated on time from University High
in 1990 to attend Illinois Institue of Technology. Laurian loved going to school and before she was done,
she achieved 5 degrees (2 Master’s Degrees (Gov St & Keller Graduate School), (2 bachelor's degrees)
Chicago State University and an associate's degree from Olive Harvey. Laurian’s first job was at what we
called the Office, ERA Preferred Realty. She would answer phones for our parents after they opened their
first business venture. She would move on from the office after returning home from college and would
try her trade at several places as an adult Johnson Production Company, family owned a Harolds and
some other things until finally finding her place at the State of IL as a Lottery Sales Representative for the
last 10 years of her life. Laurian lived an outstanding stand life and was full of joy and happiness. She
loved her family and friends. She would often visit her family; she was daddy's baby girl; her grandkids
and her nieces were her pride and joy. Laurian was a part of many organizations and has volunteered,
mentored the youth and helped so many others along her life's journey. Laurian loved to travel she was
always ready with her passport in hand, some of the places that Laurian has visited is Athens Greece, San
Jose Cali, Hill Country TX, Belize, Bahamas, Florida Keys Cancun, Las Vegas, Japan, Hot Springs, Arkansas
and most of her traveling was on while on dialysis : these are just a few of the places that she has been.
Laurian was a foodie she would have the greatest Tast buds and go to the best restaurants. Laurian made
many friends through her life and has made everlasting impressions on people's lives that will never be
forgotten. She was truly an angel on earth.

Laurian confessed her love for Christ at an early age, she became a member Covenant United Church of
Christ in 2005 and severed as a faith member, she was also a member of the food pantry and women
fellowship until the end of her life. Laurian was processed in death by all her Grandparents and both of
her aunties and several cousins.
On Monday August 26th, 2024, early morning God spoke softly in Laurian’s ear saying well done my child
thy good and faithful servant, Come and take your rest now.
Laurian leaves behind her parents (Larry and Rhonda), her son (Stephen wife Shivon), her two brothers
(Larry Jr wife Danisha, William), her three grandkids (Malayna, Shareef and Stormy), 7 nieces (Lashay,
Daija, Jada, Amber, Tracey, Lacey & Kacey) and one nephew (Jaden). Special Sister/ cousins: Chenice
Wells, Crystal Jones, Kim Johnson, Arkisha Powell, Davonda Powell, Nannette Cornell, Everett Coburn,
