Lauren Marie Caldwell (Lane)
February 18, 1965 – April 20, 2025
Lauren Marie Caldwell, born February 18, 1965, in Portsmouth, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home in Lynchburg, Virginia, on April 20, 2025.
Lauren was a woman of strength, creativity, and deep love for her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 30 years, Rodney Caldwell; her son, Zachary Caldwell; and her grandson, Beau Cagle. Though her heart knew great loss, Lauren continued to live with purpose, humor, and resilience.
She leaves behind her loving daughter, Amanda (and husband Justin Cagle), and her grandchildren; Seth, Nico, Sky, Ace, Harper, Hudsyn and Dallas. As well as another cherished grandchild, Christian Caldwell. Lauren's devotion to her family was the center of her world.
In 2015, Lauren met her fiancée, Harold. They enjoyed many years together raising chickens, growing gardens, and spending quality nights appreciating the peace and quiet of country living. Over the years, Lauren grew relationships with Harold's children as well, who came to love and respect her, affectionately calling her LaLa, as many did.
For several years, Lauren was dedicated and driven in her work at J.Crew in Lynchburg, where she was respected and admired by colleagues. Outside of work, she found joy in the simple and meaningful things—tending to her chickens, collecting frogs and pineapples, cooking creative new dishes, and surrounding herself with music. Her creativity touched every part of her life, and her vibrant personality made her unforgettable.
A funeral service to celebrate Lauren's life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Loving Funeral Home in Portsmouth, Virginia. Following the service, family and friends are warmly invited to Amanda’s home for food, drinks, music, and shared memories of Lauren.
LaLa's legacy of resilience, love, and creativity lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
