Laura Gomes Da Silva, born on September 25, 1936, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024, in Fresno, California. A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Laura moved to Danbury, Connecticut, in 1965, shortly after the birth of her eldest daughter, Rosimeri. She spent the majority of her life in Connecticut, where she worked at Davis & Geck and Stop and Shop before retiring in 2010. Following the passing of her husband, Jose Felix Da Silva, in March 2010, Laura relocated to Fresno to be closer to her family.
Laura's passion for life was evident in her love for cooking, especially lasagna, pizza, and feijoada, which she prepared with joy for her family. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, often inviting them into her kitchen to share in her culinary creations. Laura had a special place in her heart for the Florida beaches, particularly Ft. Desoto, and enjoyed watching soccer games and her favorite TV show, "I Love Lucy."
Laura is survived by her daughters, Rosimeri Tran of Fresno and Solange Da Silva of Maryland, and her son, Ricardo Da Silva of Connecticut. She leaves behind a loving legacy through her grandchildren: Alexander, Andrew, and Christopher, as well as Daniel, Michael, and Christina Tran. She is also survived by her siblings, Marilza Guedes, Marli Goncalves, and Neyde Gomes.
A devoted Catholic, Laura embraced her faith and lived by her motto, "Enjoy life, and cook good food for your family." Her kind spirit, culinary talents, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Laura's impact on the lives of her grandchildren, whom she helped raise, will forever be cherished and remembered.
