Laura Deamer Moore, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on July 10, 2024, at the age of 97. She was born on November 4, 1926, in Pennsylvania and most recently resided in Ocean Pines, MD.
Laura had a zest for life and embraced her favorite hobbies with passion. She found great joy in painting, vacationing with her family, and tending to her garden. When it came to food, Laura had a weakness for Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine, mashed potatoes, and anything sweet. She also had a deep appreciation for country music, especially the works of Dolly Parton and the song "Fly Away" by Alan Jackson.
Known for her empathy, kindness, and generosity, Laura touched the lives of all who knew her. She had a special talent for finding humor in every situation and never took life too seriously. Her infectious laughter and ability to make others laugh were cherished by her loved ones. Her favorite place in the world was simply being with her family, whom she adored.
Laura was affectionately known as Gram, Nanny, and Mom to her children and grandchildren. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother and was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren. Laura is preceded in death by her husband Harry Moore and her two son's Richard Moore and Michael Moore. Laura is survived by her daughter Rose Mehaffey, daughters-in-law Ruth Moore and Kay Moore, her granddaughters Angela Moore and Emma Heim, and her grandsons Shawn Moore, Chris Moore, Brian Mehaffey and Ian Heim. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy.
Laura's impact on the lives of others was profound. Her kindness, laughter, love, and empathy left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. She was a beacon of light and her presence brightened the lives of those around her.
Laura found solace in her Christian faith and lived her life in accordance with its teachings. She believed in spreading love and kindness to all, and her actions reflected her deep spiritual beliefs.
In the words of Laura herself, "Don't worry, be happy." She lived by this motto, spreading joy and happiness wherever she went. Laura's proudest accomplishment was simply being a loving person. She was adored by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Laura Deamer Moore will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Her kind heart and infectious laughter will forever live on in our memories.
A small celebration of life will be held by close family at a later date.
May she rest in peace and her spirit continue to bring laughter and love to all who remember her.
