LaShawnda Monic Leggett, fondly known as Kaufy, passed away on August 1, 2024, just days shy of her 47th birthday. LaShawnda parents were Vera and Leroy Young. LaShawnda was born on August 10, 1977, in Rochester, NY. She spent her life surrounded by family and friends who cherished her vibrant spirit.

LaShawnda was a devoted grandmother to Kha’Nari, Shayani, Ayden and August. and loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren. She had a special bond with her girls Shuntanique aka NiNi, Desmonet aka Shay and Khajeeah aka Shani. Her loved extended to her three bonus children and a host of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Her laughter was infectious, and she had a unique talent for making everyone feel loved and appreciated. A creative soul, Kaufy enjoyed singing karaoke, writing poems, and drawing, often sharing her artistic talents with those around her.

A true foodie at heart, she had a special fondness for Mexican cuisine and was known for her delicious homemade dips. Music was another passion of hers; she was an avid fan of DMX and Whitney Houston, and her eclectic taste embraced a variety of genres, often providing a soundtrack to her joyful gatherings.

Professionally, LaShawnda worked as a security guard and cosmetologist, showcasing her diverse talents and dedication to her work. Her warmth, creativity, and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. LaShawnda leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
