Larry will forever be remembered for his warmth, resilience, and unwavering love for his family and community. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Larry Austine Nunn Sr., age 72, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, in the city where his story began and where his heart always remained.
Born and raised in St. Louis, Larry was the proud son of Willie and Clara Nunn, and from a young age, he displayed a quiet strength, a sharp mind, and a steadfast determination. He was deeply rooted in the community that shaped him and in turn, he gave back to it in every season of his life.
Larry answered the call of duty early, serving honorably in the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army. His time in service instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, resilience, and pride—qualities he carried with him in every chapter that followed. He never boasted about what he endured, but those who knew him understood the weight he bore and the dignity with which he bore it.
After returning home, Larry dedicated his life to working with his hands, his heart, and his eye for value. He built a modest but passionate career as a retail resaler—scouring yard sales, estate sales, and thrift shops for overlooked treasures. He had a talent for restoring the broken and discarded, breathing life back into furniture, tools, electronics, and oddities others passed by. What others saw as junk, Larry saw as potential. In many ways, it was a reflection of how he lived: seeing worth where others didn’t, and honoring the forgotten.
Beyond his work, Larry’s heart was always open. He gave his time freely, volunteering at food pantries and helping neighbors whenever he could. Whether handing out canned goods or fixing a broken chair for a neighbor, he showed up for people. His presence was quiet but unwavering—a man of few words, but lasting impact.
Family was everything to Larry. He was a devoted father, full of pride for his children and all they had become. He is lovingly remembered and survived by his children: Latrice Jones, Larry Nunn Jr., Joshua Nunn, Larry Nunn, and LaShonda M. Nunn. Their lives carry his legacy forward—the values he instilled, the strength he passed on, and the love he gave freely.
He now joins in eternal rest his beloved daughter LaShonda R. Nunn, whom he missed dearly; his parents, Willie and Clara Nunn; and his cherished sisters, Willie Mae Nunn and Vanessa Watkins. Though gone from this earth, his spirit lives on in the laughter of his children, the kindness of his acts, and the memories etched into the lives he touched.
