Served as a missionary surgeon in countries including Ecuador, Kenya, Papua New Guinea, Zambia, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and Iraq
Awards
Received three Navy Commendation medals, American Medical Association's Dr. Nathan Davis Award (1997), Notre Dame Alumni Association's Dr. Thomas Dooley Award (2019)
Family
Survived by wife Leslie, six siblings, and five sons with their families, totaling 24 grandchildren

Viewing on January 24, graveside service with military honors on January 25, and memorial service at Indian Trail Church in Spokane
