Kelly William Knight, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away on January 8, 2024, at the age of 71.
Born on July 3, 1952, in Grand Rapids, MI, Kelly was known for his kind and generous spirit. He will be remembered for his love for his family, especially his wife, Robin, who stood by his side throughout the years. Kelly was a devoted father to his children, Julie, Cristyl, Carl, Ryan, and Dennis. He adored his grandchildren, Kaeyla, Hayleigh, Jerry, Tyler, Meghan, Justice, Eion, Clementine, Makayla, Jalen, and Chris, as well as his great-grandchildren, Karsyn, Kingsley, Maverick, Wesley, and Arthur.
Kelly had a zest for life and enjoyed a variety of hobbies. Whether it was fishing, playing horseshoes, camping, sewing, gardening, or mushroom hunting, he always found joy in the simple pleasures. He had a particular love for fishing and savoring fresh bluegill and seafood. Kelly's taste in music leaned towards classic rock, and he found relaxation and inspiration in the melodies and lyrics.
When not pursuing his hobbies, Kelly could be found watching westerns and discovery channel on TV. He also had a passion for football and baseball, eagerly following his favorite teams. Kelly's dogs, Ashtro, Sammy Jo, Sky, Maddie, and Honeybelle, brought him immense joy and companionship throughout his life.
Beaver Island held a special place in Kelly's heart. It was his favorite place in the world, where he felt at peace and connected with nature. His love for the island was evident in every visit he made.
Kelly was not only known for his interests but also for his defining personality characteristics. He had a witty sense of humor and a compassionate nature that touched the lives of all who knew him. He was a thoughtful and loving individual who brought joy to those around him.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Robin, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his brothers, Pat and Mike, and his sisters, Katie and Peggy. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
In this time of grief, Kelly's family finds solace in the beautiful memories they shared with him. He will forever remain in their hearts, a beacon of love and laughter.
We will be having a celebration of life for Kelly around his birthday in July. More details to come later.
