Joyce Lorene Howe, passed away on April 9, 2024, just three days shy of her 85th birthday. Born Joyce Lorene Agnus, on April 12, 1939 in Santa Monica, California, to her parents Delpha Mae and Albert Maalavi Agnus, she has had a lasting impact on the lives she touched on her life's journey.
Joyce dedicated much of her life to serving others. She worked tirelessly for Wycliffe Bible Translators, spanning the United States, Mexico, and the Philippines. Her deep passion for language and cross-cultural understanding allowed her to connect with people from diverse backgrounds, providing them with invaluable support.
In volunteer work at an inner-city church, Joyce worked with small groups helping individuals harness their religious experiences as a source of strength in negotiating life's challenges. In marrying her husband Burley Howe she was a significant support in his ministry and played a crucial role within the congregations that they became a part of. After obtaining her license in clinical social work, Joyce joined her husband in offering couples' premarital counseling together. They helped numerous couples build strong foundations for their marriages, combining their faith, expertise and love for others.
Joyce is survived by her nephew Gerry Agnes and nieces Kelly Vest and Tracy Agnes and their families. Joyce will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her legacy of selfless service and unwavering compassion will continue to inspire and uplift others for generations to come.
