Obituary

Joshua grew up surrounded by loving extended family and cousins, and his beloved dog. As a young man, Josh was an avid scouter. He spoke fondly of his time at the Philmont Scout Ranch as a teen. Josh attended South High School in Salt Lake City where he played on the school baseball and basketball teams. Josh  served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on the Japanese Islands (Northern Far East Mission).

Joshua met and married Linda (LynnDee) Chase while attending the University. They were married 21 June 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Josh worked as an engineer for the State of California until his retirement in 2001. Josh and LynnDee resided in Sacramento where Josh was a devoted husband and father of five, making sure his children had many opportunities for education and life enriching experiences. These included dance, instrumental music lessons, stage performance, sports, scouting, and service. Josh was an integral part of his children’s lives as a coach and mentor, and took many opportunities for camping and special family trips to visit relatives and to enjoy the beauties of the western United States. As Josh family grew to include grandchildren and great grandchildren, his devotion and guidance only expanded.

While engaged in raising a large family, josh was involved in continuing education as well as many creative hobbies, his favorite being taking photos, 8mm movies, and videos. He also enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, leather tooling, and woodworking. He served continually as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a scout leader, congregation leader (local Bishopric) and Ward and Stake Clerk. He was an example to all with humble Christlike charity, and never missed making birthday calls to the hundreds of people he called friends

Josh is survived by his wife of 61 years, LynnDee; children: Michael (Jennifer), Stephanie (Dale), Wendy, Michelle (Justen), Tamara (Bruce); 28 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
