Joseph Cunningham Jr. was born to the union of Joseph Cunningham Sr. and Alice Lee Davis on October 22nd 1944 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Joseph was preceded in death by his father Joseph Cunningham Sr., mother Alice Davis, his Sister Emma Williams, his brother Clarence Davis, and Auntie Mary Howell.
Joseph attened and graduated from Higgins High school in Clarksdale, Mississippi and soon afterward was drafted into the military where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. After serving honorably in the military, Joseph resettled in Chicago, Illinois where he met and married his loving wife Patsy.
Joseph received his Bachelor’s Degree in electronics and received an Associate’s Degree in Business, utilizing them at both Singer Data Products as an Applications Engineer (30 years) and at Primerica Financial Services as a District Manager (28 years).
Joseph stayed active after his semi-retirement by doing the things he loved most- helping others, performing his civic duties, fishing and singing in the St. James Catholic Church Choir, where he served the remainder of his life.
Joseph Cunningham Jr. departed this life on November 30th, 2023 at Edward Hines Veterans Hospital. Left to mourn his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Patsy; his eldest daughter Mrs.Tundra Jackson (Darryl Jackson); his son’s, Eric Taylor, Dion Williams and Kevin Cunningham; 24 loving siblings, 21 grandchildren, and 21 great grand children. His presence and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him will truly be missed.
