Jose Torres, affectionately known as Pepe, Don José, and El Pistolas, passed away on September 24, 2024, at the age of 81. He was born on April 15, 1943, in Piedras de Amolar, Guanajuato, Mexico, and most recently resided in Boulder City, Nevada.
Jose embarked on a remarkable journey to the United States as a guest worker through the Bracero Program, where he dedicated himself to various fields and crops. His unwavering work ethic earned him the respect of his employers, who welcomed him back even after the program ended. Throughout his life, Jose traversed the border in search of better employment opportunities, ultimately finding a home in Las Vegas, Nevada, during the mid-1990s. There, he worked in the local casino industry for nearly fifteen years, where he met and married his second wife, Elena.
A proud father and grandfather, Jose is survived by his nine children: Octavio, Reynaldo, Irma, Felicitas, Maria, Angelina, José, Ruben, and Josie. He leaves behind a legacy of 40 grandchildren, nearly 40 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom he adored and cherished deeply.
Known for his energetic and outgoing personality, Jose was a friend to all, always ready with a helping hand for stray animals and those in need. He often expressed his life philosophy with the saying, "Los cerros son más viejos. Que vida tan bonita para que se acabe," reflecting his appreciation for life and its beauty.
Despite the challenges he faced with parental responsibilities, Jose's generosity shone through as he positively impacted the lives of many, offering resources and shelter to friends and family alike. His spirit and kindness will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
