Jose Mata, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2024, at the age of 54 in Wyoming, Michigan. Born on March 19, 1970, in Durango, Mexico, Jose lived a life marked by deep affection, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to his family.

Jose is survived by his loving wife, Lucia Mata, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership. Together, they raised three children, Joel, Saul, and Arely Mata, who were the pride and joy of his life. Jose was also a grandfather to Valeria Mata De La O, whose presence brought him immeasurable happiness. He was a son to his father, Aurelio Mata, and was lovingly remembered by his siblings, Maria Del Rosario Blanco, Jesus Mata, and Gabriela Gallardo. Jose was preceded in death by his mother, Margarita Mata, whose memory he held dear in his heart.

As we bid farewell to Jose Mata, we hold onto the legacy of love he leaves behind. His life was a testament to the enduring power of kindness and the strength of familial bonds. Jose's memory will forever be treasured in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.

Visitation for Jose will be held on Tuesday June 18, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Zaagman Memorial Chapel, 2800 Burton St. SE., Grand Rapids, Michigan 49546. Visitation also will be held on Wednesday from 10:00am to 11:00am and Mass will follow at 11:00 to 12:00 at Holy Name of Jesus.
