In his leisure he enjoyed woodworking, reading historical biographies, collecting classic records, and volunteering with youth sports programs. He regularly participated in local community events and took great pleasure in simple weekends with family and friends.

He was a lifelong hip-hop head, growing up with the golden age of rap. From blasting Run-D.M.C. on his cassette deck to quoting lines from Public Enemy, Eric B. & Rakim, and the Beastie Boys, he carried the rhythms of the ’80s with him everywhere.
He was the guy everyone called when their car battery died.
Johnathan “Jay” Williams, 39, passed away unexpectedly on September 16th, 2025, while in custody, due to a heart attack. Born in 1986, Jay grew up surrounded by a large and loving family and a close circle of friends who will forever remember his warmth, humor, and resilience.
Though his path in life brought challenges, Jay never stopped being a source of love and encouragement to those closest to him. He was known for his deep laugh, his love of music—especially the golden age of hip-hop—and his ability to bring people together, even in difficult times.
Jay leaves behind a family who cherished him deeply: his parents, siblings, nieces and nephews, and countless friends who knew his heart. To them, he will always be remembered as more than his struggles—he was a son, a brother, an uncle, and a friend whose memory will continue to inspire love and forgiveness.
A private service will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends honor Jay’s life by sharing kindness with one another and keeping his memory alive in their hearts.
memorial service will be held at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel & Cemetery on September 20th 2025. All who knew and loved him are welcome.
