Johnnie was a devoted husband to his wife, Dorothy Wiggington, and a proud father to his two children, Tommy Lee Hooker Sr. and Crystal Marie Schaeffer. He was especially cherished by his grandchildren, including Tommy Lee Hooker Jr., Breanna Weaver, Dakota Weeks Johnston, Brandon Weeks, Ana Nicole Hooker, Steve Austin Hooker, Kiersten Marie Hooker, and granddaughters Brooke and Brandy Carlyle, Hannah and Chasity Young, and grandson Ethan Young. He also celebrated the joy of being a great-grandfather to Octavia Skye Hooker.

A skilled mechanic, Johnnie found happiness under the hoods of various vehicles, where he spent countless hours buying and restoring old cars. He had a zest for life that included watching classic Westerns, particularly his favorite show, "The Rifleman." Johnnie was a true fan of country music, drawing inspiration from legends like George Jones, Merle Haggard, and Elvis Presley. His love for crawfish and blackberries was well-known among family and friends.

Johnnie proudly served in the United States Army's 82nd Airborne and had a spirit that was always smiling and filled with humor. He was known for his memorable quotes, including "If it's broke, fix it" and "Never let your wife go to sleep mad at you." His proudest accomplishment was his family, which he cherished above all else.

He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, children Tommy and Crystal, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, as well as his siblings James, Don, and Becky.
