Sergeant Johnathan Hector "Johnny" Rivera, 26, passed away on March 8, 2025, in Gainesville, Florida. Born on July 13, 1998, in Williston, Florida, Johnny lived a life marked by dedication, creativity, and service.

Johnny proudly served as an Army Ranger and airborne medic with the 75th Regiment. His devotion to his fellow soldiers and his country was steadfast. After years of honorable service, he was discharged in 2022, carrying with him both scars and successes from his military career.

Beyond his service, Johnny found solace and expression in music. He not only composed original pieces but also built a home studio where his artistic vision could take flight. His passion for music was a testament to his creativity and determination—qualities that those who knew him will always cherish.

Johnny met the beautiful and intelligent Weilu Liu while she was pursuing her masters in piano at college. They fell in love and were married on July 4, 2021. They connected over music. They were building a life together as a unit.

Johnny is survived by the Rivera family, including his parents, Hector and Karen, and his siblings: Elizabeth, Jordan, Josiah, Ana, and Benjamin. He was predeceased by his wife Weilu Liu. His family mourns the loss of both a son and daughter, a brother and sister, trusting in the goodness of God to bring them peace.

A graveside service to honor Johnny’s life will be held on March 16, 2025, at Orange Hills Cemetery in Williston, Florida. The service will begin at 3:00 PM at 3240 NE 180th Ave.

Johnny’s memory will live on through the love of his family and family. This community and village that helped raise kids together... they have shown love and lifted each other up.
