John was very proud and loved sharing the fact that he once lived in Reykjavik, Iceland. He resided there as a teenager while his father was in the military.
John graduated from David Crockett High School in 1990, where he played the tuba. His sister could often recall knowing he was coming home from school because she could hear him playing his instrument as he walked home!
John had a passion for discovering and exploring old and abandoned buildings/places. He found interest in their mystery and enjoyed taking pictures of the places he visited.
John was a huge Star Wars fan, with a personal collection of his own fan fiction. One of his prized possessions was an original 1977 Star Wars movie poster.
John loved the magic of the holidays! He loved nothing more than being near his family- especially at Christmas as we shared timeless memories and created new ones.
John's favorite pet in life was his beloved cat, Milo. You would often find them snuggled on the couch together!
John's had a love for classical music. He enjoyed the peacefulness and comfort it brought to him.
John Tracy, 53, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, in Austin, Texas. Born on April 16, 1972, in Lakenheath, England, John brought warmth and humor to every chapter of his life.
John found joy in connecting with others through his work as an Uber and Lyft driver. He had a natural gift for conversation and a genuine interest in the people he met along the way. His passengers often left his car with a smile, touched by his charisma and friendliness.
A man of many interests, John was known for his deep curiosity and enthusiasm. He had a lifelong fascination with the history of the Titanic and could recount its story with remarkable detail. In high school, he played the tuba in the band—a passion that reflected both his musical talent and his spirited personality.
John also had a tender heart for animals, especially stray cats. He took great care in feeding and looking after them, offering compassion to creatures often overlooked. This quiet kindness was just one of the many ways he made the world a better place.
He is remembered with love by his parents, James and Janet Tracy; his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Donna Tracy; his sister Susan Tracy; his sister and brother-in-law, Amanda and Brian Ray; and nephews Matthew, Nathaniel, and Christopher Tracy.
Loyal, dedicated, smart, curious, and funny—John touched many lives with his vibrant spirit. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. He will be missed greatly.
