Obituary

John “Danny” Dewayne Burleson, 65, of Denton, Texas, passed away on February 17, 2025. Born on September 18, 1959, in El Paso, Texas, he was the son of the late Renford Roy and Joan Squires Burleson.

Danny is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Mitzi (Murphy) Burleson; his two children, John (and his wife, Catie) and Tim; his cherished grandchildren, Kevin, Patrick, Connor, and Cara; and his sisters, Kathy Schneider and Lisa Scroggins. He is also survived by many dear friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Clay, and sister, Joanne.

A proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Petroleum Engineering, Danny dedicated over 30 years of his career to Halliburton. His work took him across the globe, where he built lifelong friendships and made a significant impact in the energy industry. He loved the adventures of travel, often sharing stories of his international experiences and the places he had seen.

Danny’s greatest joy was being at home with his family. He was a devoted father and husband, known for his kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering support. He loved fishing, golfing, and spending time with his loved ones.

A celebration of life will be held on February 23, 2025, at their home in Denton, Texas. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to The Texas GSP Rescue or any animal rescue of your choice.

Danny’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.
