John Arthur Laliberty, born on September 21, 1947, in Walpole, MA, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2024, in West Barnstable, Barnstable, MA. He had spent most his life with his family in Rhode Island. He was a beloved husband to Priscilla Laliberty and a proud father to his children, William Laliberty and Michele Spruell. John also cherished his role as a grandfather to Zoe and Aiden “Buda” Spruell.
A dedicated pharmacist by profession, John was known for his intelligence and quick wit. His adventurous spirit led him to travel the world, where he enjoyed exploring new cultures and cuisines, always taking on the role of the best tour guide. His love for food was matched only by his passion for gathering family and friends for great meals. He found joy in grilling steak, savoring Italian and Chinese dishes, and enjoying fresh garden tomatoes and salads.
John's interests were as diverse as his travels. He was an avid fisherman who tied his own flies, a talented painter, and a family ping pong champion. He also enjoyed skiing, hiking, and playing pickleball. His love for sports extended to football, basketball, and hockey. Music was another passion, with favorite artists including Eric Clapton, Willie Nelson, and the sounds of 70s classic rock.
He was actively involved in his community, contributing to various organizations such as the Barnstable Newcomers, the Whelden Memorial Library, and the local adult community center. John served on the board of trustees at the library and the board of canvassers, where he made lasting impacts.
John was known for his smart, humorous, and adventurous personality. He often reminded his family to focus on the big things in life and to not let the small things bother them, imparting wisdom through DIY projects and life skills. He had a love for learning that kept him engaged with shows like Jeopardy and documentaries rich in history.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and adventure that will forever be cherished by those who knew him. John Arthur Laliberty will be remembered for his zest for life, his contributions to his family and community, and the countless memories he created with those he loved.
