John's journey was deeply influenced by his early travels in India with his guru, during which he engaged in spiritual pilgrimages that profoundly shaped his life and beliefs. He was a devoted follower of the teachings at Iskon. Professionally, John was a respected blaster and driller on oil rigs, a career that complemented his adventurous spirit.

He leaves behind a loving family who were central to his happiness: his father, Steve Peterson; his partner, Chrissy Sine; siblings Don, Sachi, Usha, Nadia (and brother-in-law Dhruva Havlik), Madhavi, and Priti Peterson; along with his nieces Nayana, Radha, Lavonna, and Leela Havlik; and nephews Deva and Rishi Peterson. John was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Peterson.

John's funeral service will be held on August 17, 2024, at 2 pm at Fraser River Funeral Home, located at 2061 Riverside Rd, Abbotsford, BC. Following the service, a dinner will be hosted at Vaishno Devi Mandir, 31545 Walmsley Ave, Abbotsford, BC, where John was a member. The Vaishno Devi Mandir in Abbotsford, BC, is assisting the family during this time.

John's legacy of exploration, both spiritual and professional, and his unwavering love for his family and friends will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
