John Allen Tate Jr., known affectionately as "Mooch," was born on August 6, 1962, in Buffalo, and passed away on August 24, 2024, in his hometown. He was the third child of Mary Elizabeth Mills and John Allen Tate Sr., and he cherished his relationships with his siblings, including his late brother Lindell "Cooch" Tate, sister Julia "Dolly" Tate, and Anita Tate.
John was a proud father to Jeremy Henderson, Jennifer Tate, and John Tate III, and he found immense joy in being a grandfather to ten beloved grandchildren: Asiana, Alexander, Jayreon, Jakari, Jakyla, Marcus, Justine, Precious, Izaiah, and Jessohnny.
A graduate of Lafayette High School, John later earned his GED. He retired from Emerson Industrial Automation, where he was known for his determination and tenacity, traits that defined much of his life. His friends and family often admired his resourcefulness, as he was affectionately dubbed the "Black McGiver" for his handy skills around the house. In his free time, he enjoyed drawing, collecting items, and indulging in his love for baseball.
John had a special fondness for food, particularly apple pie, pizza, and Pepsi, always adding hot sauce to enhance his meals. He was a man who loved nothing more than having something to put together, often finding joy and satisfaction in completing tasks.
Baptized on April 2, 1967, John was also a proud organ donor, leaving behind a legacy of selflessness. He will be remembered for his stubborn yet good-hearted nature, a true testament to his determination in life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
