Joetta Grace Vincent Carter, lovingly known as Etta, EttaMae, and Etta Brutay, passed away on June 11, 2024, at the age of 71. She was born on June 1, 1953, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and most recently resided in Marrero, Louisiana.

Joetta had a zest for life and enjoyed various hobbies, with her favorite being trivia and game shows. She was an avid fan of Jeopardy and loved to test her knowledge. In the culinary realm, Joetta had a particular fondness for dishes in red gravy with angel hair pasta.

Joetta leaves behind a legacy of love and family. She is survived by her daughter Ebony Malloy (Ashael) and her son Johnnie. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Ashael, Ameerah, Aslan, Atreyu, and Avery Malloy, as well as Lyric, Musique, and Chorus Williams. Joetta is also survived by her two sisters, Yvonne Vincent and Rosemary Scieanoux (Claude), and her two brothers, James Vincent Jr. and Dr. Bobby M. Vincent, MD. She had a close bond with her nieces and nephews and will be dearly missed by all.

Joetta's vibrant personality and sense of humor endeared her to those around her. She found joy in watching her favorite TV shows, with the Golden Girls and Big Bang Theory being among her favorites. Joetta worked in health information and medical records at Charity Hospital of New Orleans, where she made a meaningful impact on the lives of others.

In her free time, Joetta enjoyed cooking and shopping, always on the lookout for a good sale or a trip to her beloved store, "The Red." She also cherished her faith and returned to her roots in adulthood, joining Macedonia Baptist Church where her family attends.

Joetta will be remembered for her friendly nature, quick wit, and wealth of knowledge. Her presence brought joy to those around her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.

A celebration of Joetta's life will take place at Macedonia Baptist Church on a June 27, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the church in Joetta's honor.
