Joe was a proud father to his daughter Gwen, son Ruben, and daughter Anita, as well as a cherished grandfather to two grandsons, six granddaughters, two great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson.

Joe had a zest for life that was infectious, characterized by his great sense of humor and his love for family. He enjoyed motorcycle rides, which brought him immense joy, and had a particular fondness for biscuits and gravy, pot roast, and Little Debbie snacks. His musical tastes leaned toward classic rock, with favorites including the Eagles, Steve Miller Band, Otis Redding, Four Tops, and Willie Nelson.
