Joan Kay Mason, lovingly known as Mom, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born on October 18, 1940, in Tangier, NS, Canada, and had been residing in Halifax.

Joan found joy in simple pleasures and cherished her favorite hobbies, which included sewing and gardening. She would often take leisurely walks, appreciating the beauty of nature. Joan had a passion for cooking and had a particular fondness for fish and wild game.

Joan's heartfelt love for her cat was unmatched, and she found solace in being home with her beloved pet. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her feline companion as she dedicated her professional life as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) caring for people in long-term care homes.

Among her proudest accomplishments were her children, Kelly Jane Bruton and Jeffrey Joseph Bruton. Joan adored her family and took immense pride in watching her children grow into remarkable individuals. Her love and guidance will forever shape their lives.

Joan is survived by her sisters Alma Jennex and Beverley Kent, who will deeply miss their beloved sister. Joan's jovial nature, coupled with her strong work ethic, made her a cherished member of her community. She selflessly sewed for many others in her apartment building, bringing warmth and comfort to those around her. She also took it upon herself to plant beautiful flowers in the courtyard, creating a serene oasis for others to enjoy.

Joan Kay Mason will be remembered for her kind heart, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion. May her soul find eternal peace.
