It is with great sadness that we announce that Joan Eileen Couture, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away on June 26, 2024, at the age of 79 in Cordova, TN. She was born in Hartford, CT on February 28, 1945, to Raymond Strattman, Sr. and Arlene (Moore) Strattman. She is survived by her brother Raymond Strattman, Jr. of _____ and was predeceased by her parents and two sisters.
Joan had a fulfilling career, working as a head teller at Glastonbury Bank & Trust for many years. Later, she found purpose and fulfillment working for a local ambulance company before retiring in 2009.
Joan loved to dance and was a majorette while attending Hartford High School. She was a lover of music, especially Willie Nelson and could often be found tapping her feet to the rhythm of his music.
In her spare time, Joan enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, crime TV, reading, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved egg salad sandwiches, shrimp cocktail, and a good burger from Huey's. She was also a devoted Catholic and found solace in spending time with her friends from church when possible.
Joan leaves behind a lasting legacy in the hearts of her four children: daughter Joan M. Jacques (James) of Wesley Chapel, FL; son Timothy L. Couture (Violetta); daughter Michelle L. Couture of Manchester, CT; and daughter Danielle A. Couture of Manchester, CT; seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Brandon, Megan, Zoe, Mackenzie, Catherine, and Audrey; two great-grandsons, Braden and Gunnar; several nieces and nephews.
Known for having a big heart, Joan was always willing to go the extra mile to help those in need. Her kindness and compassion impacted the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
We'll plant real trees for you in Joan's memory and display your contribution forever.
