Obituary

In Loving Memory of Joakim Noah Reid

Joakim Noah Reid was born on January 30, 2009, at 1:54 p.m. at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce his passing on May 4, 2026, after suffering from depression.

Joakim was a loving son, devoted father, cherished brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and loyal friend. He was known for his warm smile, caring heart, and love for his family. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him with his kindness, strength, and determination.

From an early age, Joakim had a passion for football. He played little league football and became a standout player for the Bullies Football Team, where he earned the respect of teammates, coaches, and fans through his athleticism, dedication, and leadership.

Joakim attended Grove City Schools and Worthington City Schools before completing his education through YouthBuild. Although he passed away before graduation, YouthBuild honored his hard work and perseverance by awarding him an honorary high school diploma on June 1, 2026, recognizing the determination he showed in achieving his educational goals.

One of Joakim’s greatest joys was becoming the proud father of his beloved son, Joakim Noah Reid Jr. His son was the light of his life and the legacy of his love.

Joakim was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Jornette Michelle Reid; his brothers, Nasier Kishon-Tramaine Reid and Raphael Deshaun Beasley Jr.; and his great-grandmothers and great-grandfathers.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his loving mother, DeShana Mae Reid; his father, Raphael Deshaun Beasley; his beloved son, Joakim Noah Reid Jr.; his grandfathers, Dennis Linyard and Otto Graf; his sisters, Malaysia Littlejohn and Asia Beasley; his brothers, Amarion Reid (Donesha), Datavion Reid, Jordyn Reid, and Deshaun Beasley.

He also leaves behind his cherished nieces, Journee Cardona and Kaylee Cardona; his nephews, Da’Mir Middlebrooks, Kishon Whatley, Ryley Cardona, Michael Alston, Messiah Alston, and Dakota Reid; his godsiblings, Jaheim, Kedar, and Jacoby; his best friends, Patrick, Deshawn, and Logan; along with a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Though Joakim’s life was far too short, the love he gave and the memories he created will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy continues through his son, his family, and everyone whose lives he touched.

“God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered, ‘Come with Me.’ With tearful eyes we watched you suffer and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.”

Forever Loved. Forever Missed. Forever Remembered.
