Jerry Phillips, born on September 27, 1948, in Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024, in Chunchula, Alabama. A proud veteran who served in Vietnam, Jerry retired from Akzo after a fulfilling career.
An avid outdoorsman, Jerry cherished fishing and hunting, often sharing these passions with his beloved family. He was known for his sweet tooth and enjoyed indulging in his favorite treats. In his leisure time, he could be found engrossed in his favorite TV shows, including "Gunsmoke," "In the Heat of the Night," and "Yellowstone," or cheering on his favorite team, Alabama football.
Jerry’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, which included his children, Ginger (Joe) Dueitt, Becky (Byron) Skidmore, and Jeremy (Tiffani) Phillips, as well as his grandchildren, Jonathan Dueitt, Avery Skidmore, Ashlyn Phillips, Brandon Skidmore, LeeAnn Chatterton, and CJ Dueitt. He is also survived by his siblings Karen (Ricky) Tonsmiere, Betty (Fred) Burden, Sandy (Bob) Laurindine, Sara Cady, and Bruce Phillips.
A dedicated member of the American Legion, Jerry valued community and service. The family extends special thanks to Kim Ford for her assistance with Jerry’s daily care. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
