“Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in your joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.” From her favorite book by Margery Williams Bianco, The Velveteen Rabbit

Geraldine “Jerry” Dombroski (age 78) died in her home in Mesa, Arizona on April 2, 2023.
She was born on January 27, 1945 to L. Frierson Burgess and Anita Fleming Burgess in Kingstree, SC, where she graduated Kingstree High School.
Jerry was known for her sense of humor and her devotion to her Army husband, proudly following him as far afield as South Korea. She was a voracious reader, a staunch veterans advocate and had the softest spot for all homeless pets.
Jerry was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, CW4 (retired) Gary W. Dombroski. They held each other up through everything that life threw at them for thirty five years of marriage.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracy Wall Brame of Phoenix, Arizona and a host of friends and family who will treasure her memory.
Jerry’s wish was that her earthly remains be combined with those of her husband and they be scattered together. The family requests memorial donations to heart/kidney/pet rescue foundations or charity of your choice, become an organ donor or simply do something kind for a veteran.
Please add your stories or memories they will all be read and appreciated.
Jerry’s earthly remains will be commingled with those of her husband Gary and scattered by her brother-in-law, Allen Dombroski of NY. In lieu of flowers please do something nice for a veteran or become an organ donor.
