Jeanette M. Hafer, affectionately known as Nettie, passed away on September 26, 2024, in Myerstown, PA, at the age of 75. Born on May 4, 1949, in Lebanon, PA, she was the beloved daughter of her family and a cherished member of her community.
Nettie was known for her love of cooking, and she took great pleasure in preparing home-cooked meals for her family. She enjoyed playing cards, particularly blitz and rummy, with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating joyful memories that will last a lifetime. Her passion for music, especially the songs of Elvis Presley, accompanied her through many happy moments. Nettie also loved watching her favorite TV shows, including "Young and the Restless," "Golden Girls," and "Beverly Hillbillies."
In her earlier years, Nettie was an accomplished pool player, earning various awards in the women’s pool league and APA leagues. She found joy in celebrating life’s simple pleasures, often enjoying a cold “old mud” beer and the occasional backwoods cigar.
Nettie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas B. Hafer, who passed away in 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Sharleen Evans; her grandchildren, Heather Smith Hutchison, wife of Brian Hutchison Jr. and Luke Firestone; and her great-grandchildren, Dominick Smith, Selina Smith, and RaeLynn Smith, and their father Shaun Smith who was like a son to her as well. She took great pride in watching her grandson, Dominick, play football, especially when he wore his red uniform, her favorite color.
Jeanette M. Hafer will be remembered for her warmth, her spirited personality, and her deep love for her family, who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
We'll plant real trees for you in Jeanette's memory and display your contribution forever.
